Ambulance Paramedic Courses
6 week residential course covering ambulance paramedic training modules G, H & I, accredited by the Institute of Healthcare Development, (IHCD) through Edexcel.
Students must then undertake an additional 4 weeks hospital attachment in order to qualify.
Entry Criteria:
Students must be a qualified ambulance technician with a minimum of 12 months clinical experience.
Course synopsis:
- Anatomy and physiology of the nervous, cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
- Cardiac monitoring, ECG recognition, thrombolysis, shock.
- Advanced airway management and ventilation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, drug administration techniques, overdose and poisoning.
- Management of the Diabetic patient.
- Mechanisms of injury, assessment, examination and management of trauma.
- Paediatric illness, assessment, resuscitation, trauma, drug administration.
- Obstetric assessment and examination.
Positions may be available on qualifying as a paramedic within ERS.
